Netherlands Trip – Capacity Building Workshop 2, 17 – 21 June 2024
In June 2024, delegates for the Open Asia project visited the Netherlands to explore the Science Shop concept and practices at the Athena Institute, VU Amsterdam. The study trip provided a deep dive into the Science Shop model and definitions, mechanisms to implement Science Ship and how the concept is embedded as part of University curriculum. The delegates also spent their time brainstorming the Science Shop concept based on each institutions existing practices and initiatives. Interestingly, the delegates also had an opportunity to participate in the Science Shop carnival which was held in a public library in Amsterdam. For this visit, Universiti Malaya is represented by Prof Shaliza Ibrahim, an Honorary Professor and the Project Coordinator of OPEN ASIA (Malaysia), Honorary Professor Dr Noorsaadah Abd Rahman, Professor Dr Noorhidawati Abdullah, Dr Nurzatil Sharleeza Mat Jalaluddin, and Puan Mawarni Salim.
